Este es el resumen de los envíos del mes de Julio a este diario.

En Julio conté como fue mi llegada a Chicago ( primera escala de mi viaje ) y la llegada a la residencia de estudiantes. También comentaba mis impresiones (Al comienzo, en la semana 1, en la semana3), la primera novatada al confundirme de aula, la temática del curso y forma de trabajar en clase

On thursday I went to Rassela Club, a nice jazz club with live music and an excelent place to have dinner or to take some drink. If you want a romantic date or a nice talking with friends, this place is pretty good. It has good music but you can talk with your partner/s and have a great meeting. It has also good menu ( prices about less than $25/each), enough place to sit and good service.

Ya finalizó la semana 3 y todavía no consigo entender qué dice el tipo que habla en el BART, una especie de metro/tren de superficie para toda la bahía de San Francisco. Una vez que entienda lo que dice será un buen síntoma.

El curso está siendo chévere y bastante interesante, aunque en general mucha gente se está quejando de que los cursos no eran lo que esperaban. En algunos casos demasiado trabajo, en los cursos de inglés que no hay nativos en clase y otros que han dejado de ser interesantes. Every time, children are using computers more and more. In the US, "more than 80% of children below 12th grade use computers and between 40 and 60% use Internet" as a study of the US Department of Education in June 2005.
The use of computers brings some problems to their education. "Members of Congress and watchdog groups are again sounding the alarm over the sexual and violent nature of some video games that are falling into the hands of children" as Brad Wright told in CNN.com news, last year.
There must be a balance between the use of computers and the need of children to grow up...

Aunque a priori este curso es de inglés, la realidad es que la temática es sobre la influencia de la política en los medios de comunicación y/o la influencia de los medios de comunicación en la sociedad en general. Los libros MAM y DTE (es de un profesor de Berkeley) del curso van sobre temas interesantes en lenguaje, mensajes y medios de comunicación (me tuve que gastar como unos 150 dólares entre los libros y dos diccionarios).

That's one of the strenghness of right wing. A conservative party only works if uses strict father model, and every group follow the main strategic ideas of the party. "When you are arguing against the other side: do not use their language" Language, argue	I like this idea, it is simple and very significant. Problem here is that we all use same language, is our tool to comunicate ideas. So, it seems to be that the goal could be who's take "that word" firstly. That is not good, in my personal opinion, this means that politicians are taken our language, and that is no good to people.

La t'onica (aqu'i no est'an configurados los acentos) de esta semana es "cuanto trabajo para casa", "estoy cansado", "estos profesores estan locos", etc, etc. Aqui la dinamica es dejar mucho trabajo para casa, leer, comparar, escribir, interesante pero algo cansado.

De todas formas, hoy la primera parte de la clase fue en un laboratorio de computadores (Utilizando la herramienta de elearning Blackboard) y despues una hora de clase, a la sombra de unos arbolitos en el campus, trabajando en grupos. Nada excepcional, pero no deja de ser fascinante que un profesor tenga esta mentalidad.

Aunque en una semana no se pueden sacar muchas conclusiones, se me ocurren cosas interesantes.

-Universidad. El nivel, en sí, es más bajo que en España, lo que ocurre es que la dinámica (metodología) es diferente, la dinámica aquí es de trabajo continuo y trabajo en casa, pero, ni comparación con la quemada que al menos yo he experimentado en Teleco. En este sentido es muy parecido a la Universidad Simón Bolívar donde estudié una maestría. On July 7th, I went to see two footages about Cuba. One was "Hasta la Victoria Siempre" about some aspects of Che Guevara, the 60's myth of socialist revolution. The other movie was called "The Greening of Cuba" and was about the use of organic techniques to improve production. With these techniques they are trying to get the best of their resources.

Our class it is going to be funny, perhaps a little tough due to the amount of homework. All days we have homework, today we had to choose an issue (an controversial issue) to make an editorial for a newspaper. The main goal of the course is to make, at the end of summer session, one complete newspaper, or perhaps two.

Esto es como cuando hace 16 años (acojonante como pasa el tiempo) comencé la universidad. Uno llega a un sitio donde no tiene ni idea de lo que hacer y trata de ir resolviendo el papeleo, la logística de las clases, conociendo gente nueva, etc, etc.

La novatada no te la quita nadie, claro. Yo me encontré con la primera esta mañana, porque me confundi de clase y resulta que me fui al número 225 pero del edificio equivocado, je,je. Ese es un problema, lo que ya es leche es tener que explicar toda la movida en inglés. Afortunadamente los profesores son bastante amables.

Uf! Hoy que era el primer día de clase y que estuve paseando por el campus, se me ocurrieron varias cosas sobre cómo orientar el diario:

-Reflexiones Personales. Ojo que son fruto del día y supongo que del estado de ánimo. También se me ocurren reflexiones hacia atrás, por ejemplo, diferencias entre la educación universitaria aquí y en España (o al menos la que yo tuve), o como los asiáticos son mayoría aquí (no se me hubiera ocurrido nunca), o como los americanos reflexionan sobre su cultura (que según dice el profesor "no" tienen pero todo el mundo quiere conocerla.

Finalmente se terminó el viaje, despues de casi 24 horas. La diferencia horaria con España es de 9 horas, aquí es GMT-8 y en España GMT+1. O sea que toda una paliza.

El viaje de Chicago a San Francisco fueron unas 5 horas, estaba algo perjudicado ya, pero conocí a un tipo, bueno un "joven" de 21 años, que se iba a China a enseñar inglés, el tipo estudiaba lenguas antiguas (griego) y estuvimos hablando sobre la Biblia, que tenía en griego. Acojonante, hay gente pa tó. Se llamaba Keith (pronunciado "Kiz")

Despues en el aeropuerto, lo mejor es coger unas camionetas que por unos 30 dólares te...

Aprovechando que acabo de llegar al aeropuerto de Chicago, la primera impresion me la ha dado mi companhero de viaje. No hay enhes ni acentos aqui, parece

Resulta que nos hicieron una actualizacion de clase y viajamos en Business y se nos hizo el viaje (mas de nueve horas) bastante agradable. Un tipo interesante, espanhol que tiene muy metida la cultura norteamericana en el cerebro. Un autentico aguila de los negocios, un tipo muy interesante y amable. LLeva seis anhos aqui y le encanta. Estudia y tiene cuatro trabajos !!!, un poco estresante pero esta a gusto. Ademas promociona...
